Knight Fall was originally published in hardcover
as Murder at the War. This was the best-selling of the Peter Brichter
series. Many people in the Society for Creative Anachronism bought it to
explain to their friends and relatives what the SCA
was about -- except, of course, we don't have real murders. I really enjoyed
writing this one -- the research was so much fun.
The book has recently been reissued by FTL Publications, and won First Place - Adult Fiction in the 2001 Midwest Book Awards.

There were some
interesting problems with the dust jacket of that first edition of Murder At The War:
I sent reference photos to Saint Martin's Press so the artist would know what a War looked like. The
artist was faithful to the photos, which meant there were several recognizable Real People in the
picture. I had to swiftly track them down and promise them complimentary copies in exchange for
their permission to use their likenesses. Fortunately, they were more tickled than annoyed.
